CGPC joined the global Earth Hour campaign on 2025/3/22 (Saturday) and switch off lights for an hour (20:30-21:30).
Since joining the Earth Hour event in 2022, Taipei, Toufen, and Linyuan plants have turned off landscape lighting or non-essential lighting on the building facade for one hour over the last four years.
Earth Hour was launched by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in 2007 in Sydney, calling on the public to take the issue of climate change more sternly and conserve energy by taking action such as turning off unnecessary lights. In this way, CGPC can join forces with countries around the world to reduce carbon and protect the Earth.
According to statistics from O'right, the organizer of Taiwan's Earth Hour event in 2025, turning off lights across Taiwan this year save up to 298,000 kW of electricity, equivalent to about 147,510 kg of CO2 emissions. The cumulative electricity savings reached 1.828 million kWh, reducing carbon emissions by 955,585 kg, approximately 86,871 20-year-old trees🌳, once again setting a new record.
