CGPCP Shares Near-Miss Incident Case at Linyuan Occupational Safety and Health Promotion Meeting to Strengthen Contractor Safety Management

To continuously enhance plant safety management and promote the exchange of practical experience among different plants, the Linyuan Service Center holds an Occupational Safety and Health Promotion Meeting every two months. Through the sharing of near-miss incidents, occupational injury cases, and environmental issues, the meeting aims to promote a safety culture and facilitate experience sharing.

At this meeting, CGPC Polymer Corporation (CGPCP) presented a near-miss case titled “Short Circuit of an Electrical Chipping Hammer in Recycling Area,” The case explained the incident process, cause analysis, and subsequent improvement measures. During the operation, sparks were generated due to a short circuit in the power tool cable. On-site personnel immediately cut off the power and implemented safety measures, no personnel injuries or equipment damage occurred.

Upon review, the primary causes were identified as aging of the power tool and inadequate implementation of pre-operation safety inspections. To prevent similar incidents, the plant has strengthened the following measures:

  1. Pre-Use Inspections: Enhanced contractor requirements for tool inspections prior to use.
  2. Electrical Safety Equipment: Installed leakage detection devices for electric machinery.
  3. Safety and Health Training: Reinforced contractor occupational safety and health education programs.
  4. Case Sharing and Cross-Plant Exchange: Promoted safety awareness through incident case sharing and inter-plant communication to continuously improve contractor safety management and preventive capabilities.
