Mr. Tsai Ming-Kuang, Plant Director of TVCM, Invited as Speaker at the “2026 TAISE Sustainability Trends Seminar” to Share Insights on Smart Manufacturing and Low-Carbon Transformation

Mr. Tsai Ming-Kuang, Plant Director of the Linyuan Plant of Taiwan VCM Corporation (TVCM), was invited to deliver a keynote speech at the “2026 TAISE Sustainability Trends Seminar.” His presentation, titled “Smart Manufacturing and a Sustainable Future: How Enterprises Can Achieve Resilient and Low-Carbon Competitiveness through Technological Innovation,” shared practical experiences of how the petrochemical industry is advancing low-carbon transformation through AI and smart manufacturing.

Mr. Tsai noted that, in response to emerging carbon border measures such as the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), enterprises must proactively reduce product carbon footprints and transform carbon-reduction capabilities into competitive advantages in the global market. At the TVCM Linyuan Plant, AI technologies have been introduced to establish a smart factory management system, including personnel positioning, intelligent inspection, AI-based safety monitoring through image recognition, VOCs intelligent monitoring, and AI real-time leak detection for underground pipelines. These applications enhance industrial safety protection and predictive maintenance, shifting from traditional reactive maintenance to proactive warning and resilient management.

In addition, facing international geopolitical challenges, China’s overcapacity, and domestic net-zero carbon emission pressures, the plant has implemented AI-driven process optimization and energy management to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. The TVCM Linyuan Plant continues to promote voluntary carbon-reduction initiatives under Taiwan’s carbon fee policy and has implemented multiple energy-saving improvement projects, achieving an average annual electricity-saving rate of 1.58%. The plant has also been selected by the Industrial Development Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs as a demonstration site for the “Manufacturing Low-Carbon Guidance Program,” showcasing the petrochemical industry’s achievements in smart upgrading and low-carbon transformation.
