CGPC’s Main Plant Continues Advancing Product Carbon Footprint Management to Strengthen the Foundation for Low-Carbon Transformation

In response to global net-zero trends and increasing carbon management requirements, Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) management has become an important foundation for enterprises pursuing low-carbon transformation. CGPC’s Main Plant continues to promote product carbon footprint inventory activities by examining greenhouse gas emissions throughout each stage of the product life cycle. The results serve as references for future process improvement, energy management, and low-carbon transformation, while further enhancing the transparency of product environmental information.

To continuously strengthen product carbon management, CGPC’s Main Plant again commissioned the Plastic Industry Development Center this year to provide professional guidance for conducting carbon footprint inventories on three chemical products, including 12% Sodium Hypochlorite, 32% Hydrochloric Acid, and 45% Caustic Soda. The inventories were further verified by the third-party verification body AFNOR Asia to ensure the accuracy and credibility of the inventory data.

Through product carbon footprint inventory activities, the Company is able to further identify carbon emission hotspots within its products and proactively respond to challenges arising from Taiwan’s carbon fee policies and international low-carbon trends. The inventory results also serve as an important reference for future low-carbon product development and carbon management optimization.

Looking ahead, CGPC’s Main Plant will continue promoting carbon management and low-carbon transformation initiatives by integrating process improvement, energy management, and product environmental information disclosure to progressively fulfill its sustainable development objectives.
