In July 2026, the Chairman of USI Group signed the Biodiversity and Zero Net Deforestation Policy, demonstrating the Group’s determination to protect natural habitats. Beginning this year, the Group has also consolidated its collective resources by expanding the forestland previously adopted by USI Corporation to joint adoption by five Group companies - USI Corporation, Asia Polymer Corporation, Taita Chemical Company, China General Plastics Corporation, and Acme Electronics Corporation. The Group has entered into a 20-year Tree Planting and Reforestation Program with the Experimental Forest of National Taiwan University. By integrating scientific surveys and digital monitoring, the program aims to bring enduring green vitality to Taiwan’s forests.
Committing to Net Positive Impact and Creating a Nature-Positive Future
In alignment with United Nations frameworks, the policy sets No Net Loss (NNL) and Zero Net Deforestation (ZND) as its objectives, with Net Positive Impact (NPI) as its long-term vision. USI Group is committed to avoiding development in protected areas, promoting manufacturing with lower environmental impacts at the source, and actively encouraging suppliers and business partners to follow the principles of the policy. Through these efforts, the Group seeks to work with its partners to reduce impacts on biodiversity and create sustainable value in harmony with nature.
Applying Scientific Multi-Taxa Ecological Monitoring to Biodiversity Surveys
Through an industry-academia collaboration with the Experimental Forest of National Taiwan University, USI Group has planted 1,500 native trees across 1.0 hectare of forestland in Shuili, Nantou County. The project conducts inventories with reference to national-level standards to estimate forest growing stock and carbon sequestration. In line with the principle of prioritizing biodiversity, on-site surveys will also be conducted quarterly during the first and third years. The monitoring will cover three major ecological groups: plant communities, avian soundscapes, and medium- to large-sized mammals together with amphibians and reptiles. The results will be used to establish a dedicated ecological database.
USI Group looks forward to making this initiative a starting point for implementing Nature-based Solutions (NbS). Going forward, the Group will continue to promote tree planting and environmental education, working with stakeholders from all sectors to create a prosperous future in which industry and nature coexist in harmony.
